Tiger Basketball Recap 🏀🐾 What a weekend of basketball against East Jackson! Here’s how our teams did: • JV: Came out strong and secured a WIN! • Lady Varsity: Dominated the court for another VICTORY! • Boys Varsity: Fought hard in an intense, neck-and-neck game, falling just short by ONE point. So proud of all our Tigers for their determination and heart. Keep bringing the heat this season!

Congratulations to Jason Castro-Aguirre and Khanh Nguyen, the 2024-25 REACH Scholars from Commerce City Schools! These two 8th graders have earned academic scholarships through REACH Georgia (Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen), a program that provides mentorship and financial support to help students succeed in high school and beyond. We are proud to celebrate Jason and Khanh as our REACH Scholars and look forward to their bright futures!

Commerce City Schools will be closed from November 25 to November 29 for Thanksgiving Break.

CHS students had an exciting week, full of new experiences! FCCLA attended the Fall Leadership Conference in Covington, where Norelys Morejon competed in the cupcake decorating contest and several students took the Statesman Test. Congratulations to Emily Anderson for earning her Statesman Pin! CHS Drama students also enjoyed a performance of 9 to 5 at UGA, thanks to the UGA Theatre. Lastly, Healthcare classes got a hands-on learning experience with Rich Rutherford from Jackson County EMS, who demonstrated the Lucas device and other EMS equipment.

At CHS, incredible opportunities for students are unfolding through Project-Based Learning in the Learning Commons! Coach MK’s Geometry classes are diving into the world of 3D shapes by exploring architecture and construction. Students began by designing floor plans for their group’s house, calculating square footage, surface area, and volume. Now, they’re moving on to the building phase, constructing their designs using Legos or Balsa wood. This project is a powerful way to bring real-world applications into the classroom, connecting geometry to hands-on learning.

Our Kindergarten students at CPS enjoyed a festive Thanksgiving Feast! They had so much fun celebrating with their friends and teachers, enjoying delicious holiday food, and sharing in the spirit of gratitude.

We had a wonderful time at the Retired Teachers' Luncheon today at CHS! A big thank you to our FFA leaders and FCCLA students for their help in serving and making the event a success. It was truly special to reconnect with some of these amazing educators.

It's been a great week of basketball at Commerce! 🏀 Our middle school teams had some great matchups against East Jackson: Girls A Team: Won 50-20 Girls B Team: Won 40-10 Boys A Team: Lost 42-37 in overtime Our CMS Girls A Team also kept their streak alive with a 40-22 win against Legacy Knoll, and the CMS Boys defeated Lakeview Academy! Big congrats to our Varsity Boys and Varsity Lady Tigers for their victories against Stephens County! And a special shoutout to our JV Boys for their win against Lakeview! 🐯

Today, the 4th graders at CES hosted a wonderful Thanksgiving feast for families, students, and staff! It was a great time of gratitude and community. Next up is CHS for the retired teachers' luncheon and CPS for more Thanksgiving celebrations. We are thankful for all the support and smiles shared today!

CMS teacher and coach, Tucker Flint, proudly displays his ‘Wall of Champions’ in his 7th-grade classroom—a true reflection of his passion and dedication. A lifelong Tiger, Coach Flint not only attended school in Commerce but now teaches and coaches the next generation of Tigers. We’re lucky to have him continuing the legacy of excellence!

Third grade staff, students, and families had a wonderful time sharing a Thanksgiving meal at CES today! A big shoutout to our district office staff for their help in serving the meal. We’re excited for the upcoming meals later this week!

Mrs. Puckett recently awarded Brag Tags to students who reached their AR goals. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication to reading! Keep up the great work, 3rd graders!

A huge congratulations to Julia Bryant and Brynn Sharpton for being named FCA Athletes of the Month! A special thanks to Coach Hughes of Walton FCA for making the trip to speak with our team and present the awards. We truly appreciate Jeff’s dedication and commitment to inspiring our players!

A big thank you to our Superintendent, Billy Kirk, for cooking ALL the turkeys for our district’s Thanksgiving celebrations this week! We’re grateful for his leadership and everything he does to make our community feel like family.

What a weekend for Tiger sports! 🏊‍♀️The CMS and CHS swim teams had an amazing meet with top finishes and personal records. Special shoutout to Zoey Zellner for breaking the 500 Free school record and securing her 3rd GHSA state qualifying time. Top finishes include: Brynn Sharpton- 1st in both 100 IM and 50 Butterfly Rylee Ashton- 1st in 100 Free Stacey McKinney- 3rd in 50 Back A Relay Team- 1st in 200 Free and 200 Medley Zoey Zellner- 2nd in 100 Butterfly CMS Girls dominated the competition finishing 1st! 🤼‍♂️Varsity Wrestling had a strong showing with TJ Morgan finishing 4th at 132 lbs and Hogan Sims taking 3rd at 150 lbs. 🤼‍♂️Youth Wrestling had 7 youth and 1 middle school wrestler compete at the Life U / Club Lucha Open with several top finishers! Braxton Coker 1st Owen Savage 1st Brooks Milford 3rd Jack Toney 4th Miles Milford 4th 🏈Varsity Football advanced to the Sweet 16 and will be at Toombs County this Friday! 🐯Varsity Competition Cheer finished 13th in the state with a near-perfect routine! 🏀Varsity Boys Basketball secured a huge win over Lumpkin County!
