Next week is Read Across America Week! Join us in our theme days and let's celebrate the joy of reading!

Your feedback is important to us and the future planning of our School Improvement Plan. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey. https://survey.gadoe.org/FM?sid=37E0EFE0

Good Morning! Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, all K-3 students will be screened for dyslexia per Georgia law, Senate Bill 48, using a state-approved screener. Mid-year, your child was administered a state-approved screener one-on-one with a certified staff member in addition to the mid-year iReady Reading diagnostic. The screener and diagnostic data provided for your child was designed to identify areas of concern and components of reading that may suggest characteristics of dyslexia. The screener was NOT a comprehensive dyslexia assessment designed to diagnose your child with dyslexia. You will receive a letter this week with your child's results. For those at risk or some risk for characteristics of Dyslexia, a team including myself, your child's teacher, our school psychologist, and our MTSS coordinator discussed the whole child and the best intervention. Many children with characteristics of dyslexia can experience success in reading with the right type of support. Student progress will be monitored and communicated moving forward. Please reach out should you have any questions.

Parents, we need your help keeping our student body healthy as we finish out these winter months. We understand that childcare can be a challenge, however, sending your child to school while sick has a large impact on our school. You will receive a letter from our school nurse detailing our school illness policy. Mainly, please keep your child at home if they are sick. Illness is defined by a fever of 100 degrees or higher, vomiting, diarrhea, frequent coughing, consistent pain in their ear/stomach/etc., and/or a new and spreading rash. Thank you for helping us keep our students well!

After some crazy winter weather, we are officially back for a full week! There is always a lot going on in our schools so we have compiled them together in a high level view. We hope this is a good resource for our families as we navigate a busy Spring.

As previously communicated, we will operate on a two hour delay tomorrow. CPS doors will open for students at 9:00. Students should be in class by 9:40. Breakfast will not be served. If your child rides the bus, you should add 2 hours to their typical pick-up time (ex. typical time is 6:30- tomorrow the time will be 8:30). The arrival car line will be a single line. Please have your child ready to exit the car when pulling up to an adult. Dismissal will occur at the regular time. CPS/CES After School Program will be open.
