Pre-K Registration

  • Who is eligible for Pre-K?

Children four years of age by  September 1, 2023, who are Georgia residents are eligible to attend Georgia's Pre-K Program.

  • Commerce Primary has 3 Pre-K classrooms. A lottery will be held on March 8 to fill spots in these classes in the following order:
    1.  4-year-olds who live in the city limits or whose parents work for Commerce City Schools and live outside the city limits.
    2.  4-year-olds who live outside the city limits.
    3.  5-year-olds who have not previously attended a Georgia Pre-K Program and live outside the city limits.
  • Pre-K Lottery Application Process:
    • Online Pre-K applications will be available February 1 - 28. Applications must be completed online. Please follow the steps below:
      1.  Visit www.commercecityschools.org
      2.  Select Student Registration from the gold menu bar.
      3.  Click the registration link in Step 1 of the instructions.
      4.  Select start new registration.
      5.  Select 2023-2024 Pre-K Registration.
      6.  Work through the tabs of the application completing all required information on each tab and uploading ALL required documents. On the student tab, please be sure to select PK as the grade level and complete Bright From the Start paperwork in addition to other student information. 
      7.  All Pre-K applications will be put on hold until the lottery on March 8. Your child's application MUST BE COMPLETE to be considered for the lottery.                       *Contact Dawn Gary with questions regarding online enrollment at dawn.gary@commercecityschools.org or (706) 336-8990.
    • Any applications completed after February 28 will be placed on the waitlist.
    • The lottery will be held on March 8. Letters will be e-mailed using the email address given when registering. A reply of acceptance must be sent by the parent by March 24 to confirm the spot. If not received, the spot will be given to the next student on the waiting list.
  • The following documents must be uploaded with the application:
    • Picture ID of the legal guardian
    • Proof of Custody/Guardianship if applicable
    • A certified copy of the child's birth certificate
    • An updated shot record (form 3231)
    • Copy of Hearing/Vision/Dental Form 3300 (Completed at 4-year-old check-up)
    • Social Security number
    • Proof of residency (current gas, water, or electric bill or current rental agreement, property tax statement, or home purchase agreement with the correct address)
