Winter Weather
1-23-26
Dear Commerce City Schools Faculty, Students, and Families,
We are closely monitoring weather forecasts that indicate extreme cold temperatures and the potential for ice accumulation in our area over the coming days. The safety of our students, staff, and families will always be our top priority. District and school leaders are in regular communication and will be actively reviewing road conditions, temperatures, and guidance from local and state weather and safety officials.
What families and staff should know:
Extremely cold temperatures can create hazardous travel conditions, especially during early morning hours.
Ice accumulation may impact roads, sidewalks, student/staff travel, and bus routes.
Decisions regarding school schedules (including delays, early releases, or closures) will be made with student and staff safety as the primary consideration.
All weekend activities are cancelled for CCSS at home or away
All facilities will be closed starting 1-23-26 for any planned activity to include practices after 10:00 PM tonight
A decision will be made by 1-25-26 by 5:00 PM for school Monday
How will we communicate?
If any changes to the school day are necessary next week, families and staff will be notified as early as possible through:
Phone, text, and email notifications
The district website and official social media channel
Local media outlets
How you can prepare:
Dress students appropriately for extreme cold, including coats, gloves, and hats.
Allow extra travel time and use caution on roads and sidewalks.
Ensure your contact information is up to date with your childās school so you receive timely alerts.
We appreciate your patience and partnership as we navigate potential winter weather this weekend into next week. Please continue to monitor district communications, and know that every decision we make is guided by our commitment to keeping our school community safe.
Go Tigers!
BK
