Food Service - End-of-year Balances

Announcement for End-of-year Account Balance Round-up from Rich Friedman/ School Nutrition Director

As we finish up April and quickly approach the final weeks of school in May, the Cafeteria Managers at each school have the unenviable task of trying to collect payment owed for meals served during the year. This is not a pleasant job and we don’t enjoy it –BUT like any business we have to collect what’s owed or we risk not covering our expenses. This, in turn, makes it difficult to continue to offer the best food and service that we can. We at Commerce City Schools Nutrition Department are proud of our program and enthusiastic participation from students and staff on a daily basis bear out the good work we do. There are official penalties and consequences for delinquent accounts but we prefer to ask nicely and depend upon the good will and sense of fair play from the families in our community. As always, if your family has financial issues that make timely payment difficult, give us a call and we will do our best to bring community resources to your aid.

RE:  Correct home addresses

Our system really needs your help.  Throughout the school year, there are many times when the school system needs the correct address (not P.O. Box) for every student.  Please use the following steps to update your child’s address in our student information system.

Step 1- Go to the home page of our website, www.commercecityschools.org

Step 2- Log in to the Parent Portal

Step 3- Click on Household Information (Please click on update if you need to change the household phone number and/or the household address.)

If you do not have an account through the Parent Portal, please call 706-335-5500 and speak with Angie Ingram, Betty Lane Owensby, or Joy Tolbert.  You can also e-mail the correct address to angie.ingram@commercecityschools.org or joy.tolbert@commercecityschools.org

Thanks in advance for your help!

CPS and CES Announcement

Dear Parents,

I appreciate your help with getting this school year off to a great start!  For those of you who have students in grades PreK-4, I need to ask for your help.  If you have a student in grades PreK-4 who rides a school bus in the afternoon, I need for an adult to be VISIBLE from the bus before the bus drivers will allow a student to get off the bus.

If an adult is NOT visible, the bus driver will radio the school to contact the parent.  The student will remain on the school bus to return with the driver to pick up the CMS and CHS students.  If the school has made contact with the adult and the driver can see the adult during the second run, the driver will allow the student to get off the bus.

If the driver cannot visibly see an adult the SECOND trip around, the driver will bring the student back to his/her school (CPS or CES).  After the third day a student has to be transported back to his/her school in the afternoon, the student will be assigned to the after-school program and the parent will be charged a $25 registration fee and $10 per day.

Any student, who is a CAR RIDER at Commerce Primary and is not picked up by 3:05 pm, will be assigned to the after-school program after three days of not being picked up by 3:05 pm.  Any student assigned to the after-school program at Commerce Primary will have a registration fee of $25 and a $10 per day charge.

I appreciate your help with keeping our students as safe as possible and making the afternoons for car and bus riders as efficient as possible.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Joy Tolbert
