Update Regarding Incident at CHS

posted Dec 1, 2017, 3:38 PM by Tobie Jones

Dear Parents/Community,

The school administrators, Chief Ardis, Officer Sullivan, and the investigators with the Commerce Police Department continued to view video today and question students concerning the graffiti incident at CHS on Wednesday.  They will continue to question students and view video into next week.  Once again, there is a $500 reward for the person who can identify who wrote the graffiti in the restroom stall.  I appreciate the ongoing support of the Commerce Police Department and everyone's patience as we work through this investigation.

Message Regarding Incident at CHS

posted Nov 30, 2017, 8:00 AM by Tobie Jones

I am writing to let you know about an incident that occurred at CHS yesterday afternoon.  Mr. Smith was made aware of some graffiti and racial slurs that were written on the inside of a bathroom stall in one of the boys' restrooms.  At that point, that restroom was closed and the graffiti was removed.  However, someone took a picture of the graffiti and posted it on social media prior to the restroom being closed.  The administrators are working with the Commerce Police Department to investigate the matter.  A monetary reward has been offered to the student who identifies the person guilty of writing the graffiti.  Mr. Smith made an announcement to all students this morning that this type of behavior will not be tolerated at Commerce High School.  When the student, who wrote the graffiti is identified, the student will be dealt with accordingly.  Any student, who knows anything about who might have written the graffiti, is encouraged to let school administrators know.  Please know that we are doing all that we can to keep all of our students safe.
